Miami FL rallied with a 42-14 demolition of Wake Forest, but their season fell apart when they lost 42-38 at Syracuse, keeping them out of the ACC Championship Game and the College Football Playoffs.
The Hurricanes had to settle for an appearance in Pop-Tarts Bowl, where they were beaten 42-41 after the starters exited the game at half-time.
