The Spartans were unable to wrap up the season with a bowl game success though, as they were beaten 41-39 by South Florida in the Hawaii Bowl.

Texas go into their home opener looking to issue an immediate response to last weekend’s defeat.
The Longhorns entered the season as the favourites to win the National Championship, but put up just one touchdown as they were beaten 14-7 at defending champions Ohio State.
Arch Manning struggled in the first game of his first year as starting quarterback, and the pressure is already on heading into this matchup.
Texas came into the season looking to better a 2024 campaign that saw them go 11-2, before losing the SEC Championship Game to Georgia, 22-19.
The Longhorns rallied in the playoffs to beat Clemson 38-24 and Arizona State 39-31, but saw their national championship dream end with a 28-14 loss to Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl.

Arch Manning and the Texas offense failed to live up to the hype against Ohio State.
