Miami have been in inconsistent form over the past few weeks, but they are on course for the playoffs at 7-3.
The Dolphins opened the season with three consecutive wins, only to see that streak end with a disappointing 48-20 defeat in Buffalo.
They rebounded over the next couple of weeks though, beating the New York Giants 31-16 and Carolina 42-21 at home.
Miami then lost 31-17 in Philadelphia, before returning home to record an important division win over New England 31-17.
The Dolphins failed to follow that up as they lost 21-14 to Kansas City in Germany, but they did avoid back-to-back defeats as they saw off Las Vegas last weekend, beating the Raiders 20-13.
New York Jets Form
New York enter this matchup having lost each of their last three games to fall to 4-6 for the season.
The Jets sprang a surprise on opening night as they upset Buffalo in overtime, 22-16, but they were soon brought back down to Earth by a three-game losing skid.
They stopped the rot with a 31-21 in Denver, and then built on that success with a shock 20-14 victory over Philadelphia.
New York made it three-in-a-row with a 13-10 overtime win over the Giants, but they have not won a game since.
The Jets were beaten 27-6 at home by the Los Angeles Chargers, before heading out on the road to lose 16-12 in Las Vegas and 32-6 at Buffalo.
Verdict
New York have a crisis at quarterback and that is the last thing they need as Miami come to town.
The Dolphins are likely to take full advantage, registering a blowout win that maintains their spot atop the AFC East.
