LA Galaxy vs San Jose Earthquakes Preview & Picks - Galaxy backed to ease past struggling Earthquakes

LA Galaxy arrive for their ninth game of the new MLS season on the back of a strong 3-1 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps. 

San Jose Earthquakes were hammered 3-0 by the Colorado Rapids as their torrid start to the season continued. 

Galaxy have won six of their last 10 against their opponents, with the Earthquakes winning three times and one game ending as a draw. 

LA Galaxy knew they needed a big performance against the Vancouver Whitecaps in their last match after their 2-1 loss to LAFC in the game before. 

Their first loss of the season was not allowed to turn into a second defeat, with Galaxy powering to a 3-1 win that means they have moved to the top of the Western Conference after eight matches.

With three wins in their last four and the bottom side in the Conference to come, Galaxy will fancy their chances of snaring their second win in as many outings this week. 

San Jose Earthquakes have been awful this season, and they currently sit 12 points short of their hosts at the top of the standings. 

A 3-0 loss to the Colorado Rapids shows San Jose are not scoring consistently, while they are struggling to keep the ball out of their own net. 

Without a clean sheet this season and 20 goals conceded across eight league games, San Jose have to tighten up in defence or they will continually fall to defeats.
