Premier League Preview: May 24th - Goals on the Cards
The final weekend of the Premier League season has arrived, with European qualification, survival and league positions still on the line across Sunday’s decisive fixtures.
Liverpool vs Brentford
Anfield hosts its final fixture of the season as Liverpool and Brentford square off with European places still on the line.
The Reds need at least a point to secure a top-five finish, while victory could see them snatch fourth should Aston Villa lose at Manchester City. Brentford, meanwhile, must better the result of either Chelsea or Brighton to secure Conference League football next season.
With both sides eager to finish strongly, an open contest with chances at both ends looks likely. Brentford have developed a habit of picking up draws, and another share of the spoils could be on the cards this weekend.
Prediction: 2-2
Best Bet – BTTS and over 2.5 goals
Tottenham vs Everton
All eyes will be on the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as Spurs look for the point they need to avoid relegation against Everton.
Tottenham are under huge pressure and seem unlikely to keep the door shut in Sunday’s massive Premier League clash. Nine of the hosts’ last 10 home EPL matches finished with both teams scoring, while Everton have seen the same outcome in each of their last six fixtures.
BTTS is my best bet, with Spurs likely to hang on for the point that, barring a remarkable 12-goal West Ham win against Leeds, should secure their Premier League status.

West Ham vs Leeds
West Ham face their final Premier League game of the season knowing only a win will do against an in-form Leeds side.
After an improved run of form during the spring, the Hammers have lost each of their last three Premier League fixtures, while Leeds are unbeaten in their previous eight EPL encounters.
BTTS again looks a reliable choice, with Leeds seeing that outcome in nine of their last 10 away matches and in each of the last six Premier League meetings between these sides.
Prediction: 2-1

Brighton vs Manchester United
An entertaining encounter could be on the cards at the AMEX as Brighton look for three points that could yet secure Champions League qualification.
The Seagulls must win and hope for Liverpool and Nottingham Forest victories, but can expect a stiff test against a Manchester United side already assured of their place at Europe’s top table next season.
A strong recent record in this fixture should give Brighton confidence, and I fancy the hosts to score at least twice in a game where both teams are again expected to find the net.
Prediction: 3-2
Best Bet – Brighton Over 1.5 Goals/BTTS and Over 2.5 Goals

Elsewhere on Sunday, Pep Guardiola’s Man City welcome Europa League winners Aston Villa to the Etihad. With the Catalan boss set for an emotional departure, and Villa nursing headaches from their midweek celebrations, anything other than a comfortable home win would be a surprise.
Premier League champions Arsenal continue their own celebrations when they take on Conference League finalists Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. With little at stake, and both sides unlikely to operate at full intensity, this fixture looks best avoided.
Also in London, Fulham and Newcastle bring their campaigns to a close with both sides no longer in contention for European qualification. Goals at both ends appeal, but neither team can be fully trusted to claim the points.
Heading north, the battle to avoid the wooden spoon takes place at Turf Moor as Burnley and Wolves square off, with both keen to avoid a last-placed finish. Picking a winner is a thankless task with just seven wins between the hapless pair this season.
An in-form Bournemouth will be confident of claiming the spoils when they face a Nottingham Forest side that has failed to win any of their last three games. The Cherries must avoid defeat to maintain their Champions League qualification hopes, and they could go one better at the City Ground.
Rounding off the action, Sunderland and Chelsea battle it out with both sides still in contention for Conference League football next season. The Black Cats will take confidence from their fine win at Everton and could trouble a Chelsea side that has won just one of their last five away Premier League matches.
