Premier League Preview: May 15th-May 18th

The penultimate weekend in the Premier League season sees eight fixtures take place, and we've got the best of the action covered at Expertpicks.com.

Aston Villa vs Liverpool

The penultimate weekend in the Premier League season kicks off with an intriguing Friday night fixture as Europa League finalists Aston Villa host Liverpool.

Both teams are in pole position to secure Champions League football, but the Villains have the edge in morale and look like a solid bet to see off a Reds side that continues to labour.

Liverpool lost three of their last four on the road, with two goals or more conceded in all three defeats. With that in mind, I fancy the Villains to score at least two goals en route to victory at Villa Park.

Prediction: 3-2

Best Bet – Aston Villa Over 1.5 Team Goals

Manchester United vs Nottingham Forest

Manchester United and Nottingham Forest lock horns at Old Trafford with the Red Devils in search of a third successive home win.

Michael Carrick's men have looked solid on home soil in recent weeks, but Forest arrive in strong form themselves after securing victories in three successive away Premier League fixtures.

United should have the edge at Old Trafford, although Forest's recent attacking displays suggest both teams are likely to get on the scoresheet in what could prove an entertaining contest.

Prediction: 2-1

Best Bet – BTTS

Leeds United vs Brighton & Hove Albion

An entertaining encounter looks likely at Elland Road on Sunday as Brighton continue their push for Champions League qualification against Leeds.

The hosts have been strong throughout 2026 and should provide a stern test for the in-form Seagulls. Brighton have won five of their last seven league fixtures, while Leeds are unbeaten in their last seven Premier League matches, pointing to a competitive contest with chances at both ends.

Brighton claimed a 2-2 draw on their last visit to Elland Road in 2023, and a similar outcome could be on the cards again this weekend.

Prediction: 2-2

Best Bets – BTTS and Over 2.5 Goals/Brighton Over 1.5 Team Goals

Newcastle United vs West Ham United

A huge contest takes place at St James’ Park in Sunday's late kick-off as Newcastle host relegation-threatened West Ham.

Another dramatic encounter with plenty of goalmouth action seems likely, with the Hammers capable of claiming a positive result. Four of the previous six meetings between these sides finished with BTTS and over 2.5 goals, while the same outcome has landed in 16 of Newcastle's last 20 fixtures.

With West Ham desperate for points in the battle to avoid the drop, a high-scoring and open contest looks likely on Tyneside.

Prediction: 2-2

Best Bet - BTTS and Over 2.5 Goals

Best of the Rest

Sunday's action sees already relegated Wolves host European hopefuls Fulham at Molineux. The Cottagers have a poor away record, and this fixture looks like a strong no-bet candidate.

Also at 3 pm, Brentford and Crystal Palace square off in a London derby contest. The Bees seem likely to take advantage of an Eagles side with one eye on their Conference League final later this month.

Elsewhere, Everton will be desperate to claim victory in their 3 pm kick-off against Sunderland. The Toffees remain in the hunt to secure a return to European competition but can settle for nothing less than three points against an out-of-form opponent.

The final fixture of the weekend sees title-chasing Arsenal host Burnley on Monday evening, with the Gunners as short as 1.09 to pick up the points. A commanding home win with at least three goals seems likely as Mikel Arteta's men close in on a first Premier League title since 2004.
