The Spaniard has been outstanding throughout the tournament, winning all four of his matches in straight sets and arriving in the final full of confidence. Damir Dzumhur, meanwhile, has come through a series of physically demanding matches and has shown signs of fatigue during the week.

Daniel Merida Aguilar moved into the final after defeating Roman Burruchaga in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2. He saved three of the four break points he faced and converted four of his nine break-point opportunities.
This is Merida Aguilar's second ATP Tour final of the season. He reached his maiden tour-level final in Bucharest earlier this year after winning four consecutive three-set matches before losing to Mariano Navone in another three-set battle.
He also reached the third round in Madrid and produced three other semifinal-or-better finishes on the Challenger Tour, helping him climb to a career-high ranking of No. 82.

Dzumhur Builds Momentum in Croatia
Damir Dzumhur reached the final after defeating Alex Molcan in three sets, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3. He had also come through a dramatic three-set battle against Matteo Arnaldi in the previous round, winning 7-6, 6-7, 7-6.
With this run, Dzumhur has achieved his best result in Umag, improving on last year's semifinal appearance. He will now compete for the title for the first time at the tournament.
Before arriving in Umag, Dzumhur had struggled for consistency across all levels this season. His only multiple-match winning run before this week came in Bucharest, where he reached the quarterfinals.
He heads into this clash with a 3-1 record in ATP Tour finals, having won each of his last three. His most recent title came in Antalya in 2018.
