Former Champion Builds on Winning Start
Nuno Borges moved into the second round after defeating Moise Kouame in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2. He saved all four break points he faced and converted three of the eight break points he created.
He is now looking to register consecutive tour-level wins for only the third time since the end of January. His best results during that period include the quarterfinals in Barcelona, the semifinals in Mallorca, and the third round at Roland Garros.
Borges has a 1-1 record in second-round matches in Bastad. He converted his debut appearance into the 2024 title, but lost at this stage in three sets to Filip Misolic last year.

Bulgarian Looks to Continue His Revival
Grigor Dimitrov defeated Dalibor Svrcina in three sets, 7-6, 1-6, 6-4, to reach the second round in Bastad. He trailed by a break three times in the opening set before claiming it in a tiebreak, which proved crucial to his victory.
With this win, Dimitrov snapped an eight-match losing streak on clay and recorded his first victory on the surface since Madrid last year.
The Bulgarian regained momentum during the grass swing after an injury-hit start to the season. He won seven of his 10 grass-court matches, reaching the quarterfinals in Mallorca, the quarterfinals of the Dublin Challenger, and the fourth round at Wimbledon.
Dimitrov has cleared the opening-round hurdle in two of his three appearances in Bastad, reaching the semifinals on both occasions. He will be aiming to continue that trend this week.
