The Argentine has made tremendous progress recently and achieved a career-high ranking of 50 after reaching the fourth round in Rome and Montreal, along with three other quarterfinal-or-better results on tour.

He will be delighted with his performance this week after arriving on a five-match losing streak and having failed to register multiple main-draw wins since the French Open. This is also his best result in Cincinnati.
Before this week, he had registered multiple main-draw wins on tour only three times this year, reaching the quarterfinals in Miami and Rome and the third round at the French Open.
