Bermuda Championship Preview & Picks
The PGA Tour and players leave the United States mainland for the second time this season to contest the Bermuda Championship at the Port Royal Golf Course. Who will lift the trophy come Sunday?

Lucas Herbert will not be back to defend his title after victory in 2021.

Two major winners are in the lineup, including Lucas Glover and John Daly.

These are our top four picks that could win the title this tournament.

Thomas Detry

Thomas Detry had a solid start to his year on the DP World Tour, finishing T53 at the Abu Dhabi Championship, MC at the Dubai Desert Classic, T9 at the Ras al Khaimah Championship, T54, T26 at the Magical Kenya Open, T57, and T15 at the Corales Puntacana Championship (PGA Tour).

The 29-year-old's form was inconsistent, finishing T54, MC, MC, before regaining his touch by placing T29 at the Porsche European Open, T15 at the BMW International Open, T58 at the Horizon Irish Open, T10 at the Genesis Scottish Open, T34 at the Open Championship, T12 at the Cazoo Open, and T4 at the Albertsons Boise Open (Korn Ferry Tour).

He missed the cut twice in a row on the Korn Ferry Tour in his next two tournaments.

The Belgian bounced back by placing at the T5 BMW PGA Championship, T12 at the Fortinet Championship, T9 at the Sanderson Farms Championship, T69 at the Shriners Children's, and T45 at the Andalucia Masters.

He finished T22 at the Bermuda Championship last year.

Detry has had two top-five places, one top ten and two top-15 finishes in nine starts on the golf course and will be challenging for the trophy come Sunday.

Mark Hubbard

Mark Hubbard had a poor start to his year on the PGA Tour, missing the cut at the Sony Open in Hawaii and Farmers Insurance Open before finishing T33 at the AT&T Pebble Beach.

Hubbard found some form on the fairways, placing T6 at the LECOM Suncoast Classic (Korn Ferry Tour), 15th at the Honda Classic, T38 at the Puerto Rico Open, and T5 at the Chitimacha Louisiana Open (Korn Ferry Tour) before missing the cut at the Corales Puntacana Championship.

The 33-year-old shrugged off that result by placing T9 at the Club Car Championship (Korn Ferry Tour), T12 at the Veritex Bank Championship (Korn Ferry Tour), and T14 at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

His next seven starts were modest, finishing T51, MC, T32 at the AT&T Byron Nelson, T52, T29 at the REX Hospital Open (Korn Ferry Tour), T44 at the RBC Canadian Open and T46 at the Travelers Championship.

The American rediscovered his touch on the greens, placing T13 at the John Deere Classic, 3rd at the Barbasol Championship and 4th at the Barracuda Championship before missing the cut at the Rocket Mortgage Classic.

Hubbard struggled to find his rhythm, finishing T61 at the Wyndham Championship, MC at the FedEx St. Jude Championship before placing T21 at the Fortinet Championship, T5 at the Sanderson Farms Championship, T28 at the Shriners Children's Open and 66th at the recent ZOZO Championship.

His previous two results at this event include T41 in 2019 and T22 last year.

Hubbard has shown improvement in recent tournaments and can take home the winner's cheque this weekend.

Seong-Hyeon Kim

Seong-Hyeon Kim has had a solid start to his new season on the PGA Tour, placing T36 at the Fortinet Championship, T13 at the Sanderson Farms Championship, and T4 at the Shriners Children's Open before finishing T64 at the CJ Cup this past weekend.

Before that, Kim had a season on the Korn Ferry Tour, achieving excellent results. He placed T19 at the Bahamas Great Exuma Classic, 3rd at the Bahamas Great Abaco Classic, MC, MC, T2 at the LECOM Suncoast Classic, T41, 2nd at the Lake Charles Championship, T20 at the Club Car Championship, T18 at the Veritex Bank Championship and T6 at the Huntsville Championship in his first ten tournaments.

The 24-year-old's subsequent six starts were decent, finishing T55, MC, T31 at the AdventHealth Championship, T41, T20 at the SK Telecom Open 2022(Korean Tour), and T6 at the 65th KPGA Championship.

Kim struggled to maintain his level of play, finishing T50, T41, T67, and T30 at the Utah Championship, MC, before returning to form by placing T11 at the  Albertsons Boise Open and T6 Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship.

He is making his debut at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship.

Kim has had two top-ten places and two top-15 finishes in his last six events and could go all the way this weekend.

Adam Long

Adam Long had an excellent start to the 2021/22 season on the PGA Tour, with results of MC, T29 at the Sanderson Farms Championship, MC, T25 at the ZOZO Championship, T22 at the World Wide Technology Championship, T11 at the Hewlett Packard Enterprise Houston Open and T16 at the RSM Classic.

Long's next starts lacked consistency, MC, MC, T65, MC, 75th, before showing improvement by finishing T32 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, T46 at the Players Championship, MC, T35 at the Valero Texas Open, T12 at the RBC Heritage, MC and T15 at the Mexico Open.

The 35-year-old form dipped, missing the cut at the Wells Fargo Championship and finishing T35 at the Charles Schwab Challenge before missing the cut at the Memorial Tournament.

Long refound some form by placing T21 at the RBC Canadian Open, T25 at the Travelers Championship, T13 at the John Deere Classic, and T16 at the 3M Open.

His subsequent five events have been poor to average, WD, MC, MC, and T30 at the 2022 Sanderson Farms Championship and T53 at the ZOZO Championship.

He is making his debut at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship.

Long has not been at his best of late but did show some form proper to his latest results and is the long-shot value bet in Bermuda this weekend.

Verdict

Detry has been thereabouts in recent weeks and has claims for the title.

Hubbard appears to have turned the corner and will be a threat at the Port Royal Golf Course.

Kim is holding form and can secure his maiden PGA Tour tournament in Bermuda.

Long has had solid results this year and can feature prominently this weekend.
