Travelers Championship Preview & Picks - Best PGA Tour Picks

After facing tough conditions last weekend, the world's best golfers converge in Conneticut to compete for the Travelers Championship. Who will lift the trophy come Sunday?

Past and present Major winners in the field include Scottie Scheffler, Justin Thomas, Rory McIlroy, Keegan Bradley, Jason Day, Lucas Glover, Zach Johnson, Webb Simpson, Jordan Spieth and Danny Willett.
These are our selections that could win the title this weekend.
Rory Mcllroy
Rory McIlroy started the year on the DP World Tour in January, finishing T12 at the Abu Dhabi Championship and 3rd at the Dubai Desert Classic, before heading across the pond to play on the PGA Tour.
He placed T10 at the Genesis Invitational, T13 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, and T33 at the Players Championship and missed the cut at the Valero Texas Open.
The world's number two ranked golfer put that poor result behind him when he placed second at the Masters, 5th at the Wells Fargo Championship, 8th at the PGA Championship, and T18 at the Memorial Tournament.
He then captured his second RBC Canadian Open in a row and came in T5 overall at the US Open.
The Northern Irishman's previous three starts at this tournament have produced T17, T12 and T11 results.
McIlroy has been ultra-consistent in his game this year and can convert that into his second title of the year in Connecticut.
Scottie Scheffler
Scottie Scheffler has been the world's best golfer in 2022, and his results show why he has climbed to the number one ranking.
He finished T25 at the American Express and T20 at the Farmers Insurance Open before winning his maiden PGA Tour title at the Phoenix Open. He followed up by placing T7 at the Genesis Invitational and then captured his second title at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
The 25-year-old could only finish T55 at the Players Championship but returned to top form by claiming the WGC Dell Technologies Match Play title and winning his first Major at the Masters.
The American then placed T15 at the AT&T at the Byron Nelson but missed the cut at the PGA Championship.
Scheffler bounced back to form again by coming second at the Charles Schwab Challenge, T18 at the RBC Canadian Open and T2 at the recent US Open.
He has played at the Travelers Championship twice, missing the cut in his first attempt and finishing T47 in 2021.
Scheffler can little wrong at present and will be confident he can win another trophy come Sunday.
Sam Burns
Sam Burns started 2022 with a T19 finish at the Tournament of Champions before hitting a bad run of three missed cut events in a row on the PGA Tour.
The American refound his touch around the greens when he placed T9 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, T26 at the Players Championship, and successfully defended his title at the Valspar Championship in March.
The 25-year-old missed the cut in his next two starts but came back with a decent T20 finish at the PGA Championship and clinched his second title of the year when he defeated Scottie Scheffler in a playoff at the Charles Schwab Challenge.
He followed up with a T4 place at the RBC Canadian Open and T27 at the US Open.
The number nine ranked golfer has had fair results at the Travelers Championship in the past. He placed T43 in 2019, T24 in 2020 and 13 last year.
Burns has won twice on the PGA Tour this year and is holding form to challenge for another victory.
Seamus Power
Seamus Power began his year with impressive displays on the PGA Tour, placing T15 at the Tournament of Champions, T3 at the Sony Open in Hawaii, T14 at the American Express and T9 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
He missed the cut in his next three starts before turning the corner with a T33 finish at the Players Championship and returning to the form he showed at the beginning of the year by placing T5 WGC Dell Technologies Match Play.
The Irishman had a decent result at the Masters, finishing T27 but missed the cut at the Wells Faro Championship.
However, that was only a temporary dip in form as he placed T17 at the AT&T Byron Nelson, T9 at the PGA Championship, MC at the Memorial Tournament and a credible T12 at the recent US Open.
The 35-year-old has played at the Travelers Championship four times, with results of MC in 2017, T36 in 2018, T66 in 2019 and T19 in 2021.
Power has brought more consistency to his game on the PGA Tour since last year and can make his presence felt around the greens at TPC River Highlands this weekend.
Verdict
McIlroy is in excellent form and has claims for the title in Connecticut.
Scheffler is the leading light on the PGA Tour and can challenge for his fifth title for the year.
Burns has won twice this year and can challenge for the championship come Sunday.
Power has been in great touch and is the long-shot value bet for the weekend.
