Atlanta entered this series having cooled off after a fast start that saw them win six of their first eight games.
The Braves opened the season in Philadelphia and won two of the three meetings with the Phillies, before splitting a two-game series with the Chicago White Sox.
They then swept Arizona in their first home series of the campaign, winning all three games, only to see their form cool down after that.
Atlanta came out on the losing end of a three-game home series against the New York Mets, sandwiching a 6-5 win with 8-7 and 16-4 defeats.
The Braves then went out on the road and beat Miami 8-1 and 9-7 either side of a 5-1 defeat to the Marlins.
Houston Astros Form
Houston came into this series on the back of a couple of wins, but they have made an underwhelming start to the season.
The Astros opened up at home against the New York Yankees, and they were swept by the visitors in a four-game series.
They did better against Toronto, winning 10-0 and 8-0 either side of a 2-1 defeat, and they then split a four-game series at Texas, bouncing back from 10-2 and 7-2 defeats with 3-1 and 10-5 wins.
Houston were unable to build on those two wins in Kansas City, as they were swept by the Royals courtesy of 11-2, 13-3 and 12-8 defeats.
The Astros’ losing run then reached four games with a 12-8 home loss to Texas, but they did manage to turn around that series as they won the final two games, 9-2 and 8-5.
Verdict
Atlanta are the team in better form and they have a massive advantage at starting pitcher, so we expect the Braves to win again in Houston.
