Figueiredo rebounded from a decision defeat to Jussier Formiga to work his way to the top of the flyweight ladder the first time.
He beat Alexandra Pantoja by decision to get back on track and followed that up with a first-round submission win against Tim Elliott.
The 35-year-old Brazilian then then knocked out Joseph Benavidez in the second round, but was not awarded the vacant flyweight title because he missed weight.
Figueiredo took his second shot at the gold though, tapping out Benavidez in the first round of their rematch.
He then successfully defended the belt by submitting Alex Perez inside two minutes of his first defence.
Since then the Brazilian fighter has only fought this opponent at UFC 283, Brandon Moreno.
The first meeting ended in a majority draw after Figueiredo received a costly one point deduction for a groin strike.
He was then submitted in the third round of the rematch, only to get his revenge a year ago when he earned a decision win over Moreno to regain the flyweight crown.
Brandon Moreno Form
Brandon Moreno is a former flyweight champion and current interim champion with a 20-6-2 record.
Moreno’s ascent up the division began in December 2019 when he beat Kai Kara-France by unanimous decision.
He followed that up with a decision victory against Jussier Formiga and a first-round knockout of Brandon Royval.
That earned the 29-year-old American a shot at the flyweight title, but he came up short as he went to a majority draw with Deiveson Figueiredo.
Moreno took the rematch in emphatic fashion though, submitting Figueiredo in the third round to win the belt.
His reign proved to be brief however, as he dropped a decision to the Brazilian when the pair met in the trilogy fight in January 2022.
The former champion bounced back quickly though, knocking out Kai Kara-France in the third round of their interim title fight last July.
