Meanwhile, Zachary Svajda already has two qualifying matches under his belt this week, giving him a useful head start in terms of grass-court preparation.

American Targets Return to Top 20
Tommy Paul arrives at Queen's Club after a disappointing defeat at Roland Garros, where he led Casper Ruud by two sets to love and even held match points in the fourth set before eventually losing the match.
Despite that setback, the American has enjoyed a solid season. He has reached five quarterfinals or better, including runner-up finishes in Delray Beach, Houston and Hamburg. However, he remains short of the ranking points he earned at the same stage last year, which has seen him slip outside the Top 20.
The grass season presents a good opportunity to regain that position. Paul played only two grass-court events last year and won just one match, meaning there are plenty of ranking points available for him to gain over the next few weeks. A couple of deep runs could realistically put him back inside the Top 20.
This will be his fourth main-draw appearance at Queen's Club. His best results at the event came with a quarterfinal run in 2022 and a title-winning campaign in 2024, which remains the only grass-court title of his career.

Svajda Returns to Main Draw as Lucky Loser
Zachary Svajda has struggled for consistency this season and also dealt with physical issues during the early months of the year. Although he lifted the Challenger title in San Diego in February, he was unable to build on that result and followed it with a series of early exits.
Everything changed at Roland Garros, where the American produced the best run of his career by reaching the fourth round. His campaign ended with a four-set defeat to Flavio Cobolli, but the result helped him achieve a career high ranking of 62 recently.
Svajda made his debut at this event through qualifying but fell to Martin Damm in the second qualifying round. Despite that loss, he received a lucky loser spot in the main draw. He has played only one previous ATP-level grass-court main draw match, a three-set defeat in Newport in 2024.
