The Celtics were handed a home opener, but failed to make the most of it as they were beaten 117-116 by Philadelphia.

Things did not get any better when they went out on the road, as they suffered back-to-back defeats to fall to 0-3.

Boston were beaten 105-95 in New York, before moving on to Detroit for a 119-113 defeat at the hands of the Pistons.

The Celtics finally got off the mark on Monday though, winning 122-90 in New Orleans, and they backed that up at home as they beat Cleveland 125-105 on Wednesday.

Philadelphia 76ers Form

Philadelphia enter this matchup boasting a 100% record, having won each of their first four games of the season.

The 76ers kicked off the season by visiting the team they face on Friday, the Boston Celtics, and they returned home with a 117-116 victory in the books,

Philadelphia first beat Charlotte 125-121, and then backed that up with a 136-124 victory over Orlando.

The 76ers then made it four-in-a-row on Tuesday night as they travelled to Washington to take down the Wizards, 139-134 in overtime.

Philadelphia have raced out of the blocks with four straight wins, including an opening night success in Boston.

The 76ers' surge will end at some point, but they have home advantage for this latest meeting and they are the hot hand, so we are siding with Philly.
