The Longhorns opened the season with five straight wins and made an early statement when they knocked off #3 Alabama, 34-24, on the road.
They also beat #24 Kansas during that run, 40-14, only to suffer their first defeat a week later when they were beaten 34-30 by #12 Oklahoma.
Texas bounced back quickly though, winning 31-24 in Houston, and they backed that up with home wins against BYU, 35-6, and #25 Kansas State, 33-30.
The Longhorns then wrapped up their regular season with three more wins, winning 29-26 at TCU and 26-16 at Iowa State, before returning home to blowout Texas Tech 57-7.
Oklahoma State Form
Oklahoma State come into this matchup having won seven of their last eight games to seal their place in the conference championship.
The Cowboys stuttered early in the season as they lost 33-7 to South Alabama and 34-27 at Iowa State to fall to 2-2.
They got back on track with a 29-21 victory over Kansas State, and followed that up with a 39-32 victory over #23 Kansas, a 48-34 win at West Virginia and a 44-13 blowout of Cincinnati.
Oklahoma State then upset #10 Oklahoma, 27-24, in the last ever ‘Bedlam’ only to see their streak end with a 45-3 loss to UCF a week later.
The Cowboys rebounded quickly though, winning 43-30 at Houston and 40-34 against BYU to close out the regular season.
