SMU vs Tulane Preview & Picks

SMU are backed to cover as a betting underdog.

The Mustangs’ offense has been red-hot for weeks, and Tulane have had an unhealthy knack for letting teams hang around.

  • SMU are 5-2-0 ATS in their last 7 games
  • Tulane are 3-6-0 ATS in their last 9 games
  • SMU are 6-1 in the last 7 meetings with Tulane
  • The Over has cashed in 5 of SMU’s last 6 games

Head To Head

  • SMU lead the all-time series 15-14
  • Tulane won 59-24 when the two teams last met in November 2022

SMU Form

SMU are riding an eight-game win streak into this AAC Championship Game clash with Tulane.

The Mustangs dropped two of their first four games, including a 28-11 loss at #18 Oklahoma, but they have been on a tear since.

They kicked off their conference campaign with a 34-16 win against Charlotte and never looked back as they won all eight of their AAC matchups.

SMU’s run saw them shut out Temple in a 55-0 blowout win on the road, while they also passed the 60-point mark as the crushed Tulsa, 69-10.

The Mustangs wrapped up their regular season with another blowout victory, taking down Navy, 59-14, at home.

Tulane Form

Tulane enter this AAC Championship Game having won 10 straight games since their only loss of the season.

The Green Wave were beaten 37-20 by #20 Ole Miss in early September, but they have been on a roll ever since.

They beat UAB 35-23 and won 31-21 at Memphis as they claimed a place in the College Football rankings in October.

From there, Tulane climbed the rankings with a string of close victories, winning 30-28 at Rice, 13-10 at East Carolina and 24-22 at home to Tulsa.

The Green Wave then shut down Florida Atlantic in a 24-8 road win, before returning home to beat UTSA 29-16 in their regular season finale.

Verdict

SMU’s offense has been piling up the points under Rhett Lashlee, helping them cover repeatedly.

Tulane, on the other hand, have been in a bunch of close games over the past several weeks, so give us the Mustangs and the points.
