Iowa vs Michigan Preview & Picks

Michigan are tipped to cover in a blowout Big Ten Championship win.

The Wolverines offense is scoring freely and the defense should have no issues shutting down a bad Iowa offense.

They also have head coach Jim Harbaugh back, so everything is pointing towards a commanding win.

  • Michigan are 6-2-0 ATS in their last 8 games
  • Michigan are out-scoring their opposition by 27.3 points per game
  • The 2 teams allow a combined 22.5 points per game
  • The Under has cashed in 10 of Iowa’s 12 games this season

Head To Head

  • Michigan lead the all-time series 44-15-4
  • Michigan won 27-14 when the two teams last met in October 2022

Iowa Form

Iowa lost a couple of games during the regular season, but that was not enough to keep them out of the Big Ten Championship.

The Hawkeyes opened with three consecutive wins, only to put up zero points in a 31-0 defeat to #7 Penn State in Week 4.

The offense rebounded as they beat Michigan State 26-16 and Purdue 20-14, but they passed the 20-point mark in just one of their final six games.

Iowa beat Wisconsin 15-6 to extend their win streak to three games, only to suffer another Big Ten defeat when they lost 12-10 at Minnesota.

The Hawkeyes responded to that loss with four consecutive wins though, setting up this showdown with Michigan.

They won 10-7 at Northwestern, 22-0 at home to Rutgers, 15-13 at home to Illinois, and 13-10 on the road at Nebraska.

Michigan Form

Michigan finished the regular season with a perfect record, clinching a place in the Big Ten Championship with a win over bitter rivals Ohio State.

The Wolverines finished the season how they started it, playing without suspended head coach Jim Harbaugh on the sidelines.

They won those first three games though, and kept their momentum going with a string of blowout victories in conference play, including a 52-7 rout of Indiana and a 49-0 shutout of Michigan State.

Michigan then beat Purdue at home, 41-13, before learning that Harbaugh would again be sidelined.

The Wolverines rallied just hours after the announcement, beating #9 Penn State 24-15 on the road, and they backed that up with a 31-24 win in Maryland.

They then wrapped up the regular season with a 30-24 victory over fierce rivals Ohio State in a winner-takes-all encounter.

Verdict

Michigan are rolling and they will have head coach Jim Harbaugh back on the sidelines.

They are the better team on both sides of the football too, so we expect the Wolverines to cover in a comfortable win.
