Felix Auger-Aliassime made a very slow start to the tournament and was dragged into five sets in the opening round, but he has steadily improved since then with back-to-back four-set wins in the following rounds. He now appears to be growing into the tournament with every match, which is always a dangerous sign given his history of building momentum and making deep runs at major events once he finds rhythm and confidence.

Canadian Overcomes Nakashima Challenge
Felix Auger-Aliassime defeated Brandon Nakashima in four sets to reach the second week at Roland Garros, 5-7, 6-1, 7-6, 7-6. He fired 15 aces and recovered from a break down in both the third and fourth sets before closing out the match.
This is the third time Auger-Aliassime has reached the Round of 16 at the French Open. He previously did so in 2022 and 2024 but lost to Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz respectively.
The Canadian struggled badly on clay last season, suffering five opening-round exits in six tournaments, with only a semifinal run in Hamburg standing out. This year has been much better, with a quarterfinal appearance in Monte Carlo and a third-round run in Madrid before arriving in Paris.
Since last season, the 25-year-old has produced a series of consistent results, reaching at least the semifinals 14 times across all events. Those performances helped him return to the Top 10 rankings.
Auger-Aliassime heads into the fourth round with a 4-5 record at this stage of Grand Slams. His most recent appearance in the Round of 16 led to a semifinal run at the US Open in 2025.

Chilean Advances Into Round Four
Alejandro Tabilo followed his second-round walkover against Valentin Vacherot by defeating world No. 302 Moise Kouame from a set down, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6, to reach the fourth round at Roland Garros. He dropped serve four times but broke his opponent five times during the match.
Tabilo's route through the draw has been more comfortable than most, and he is yet to face a seeded opponent. Across his first two completed matches, he struck 27 aces and broke serve 10 times, showing the effectiveness of his game even on clay. This is the best Grand Slam result of his career.
The Chilean arrived in Paris struggling to build momentum at tour-level events during the European clay swing, failing to record multiple wins in any of them. However, he enjoyed success on the Challenger Tour, winning the title in Aix-en-Provence and reaching the semifinals in Valencia, results that helped rebuild his confidence.
Earlier this season, Tabilo reached the final in Rio de Janeiro and the quarterfinals in Buenos Aires and Santiago. Those performances have helped him climb back into the Top 40 after beginning the year outside the Top 80.
