Flavio Cobolli defeated world No. 18 Learner Tien in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, 6-3, to reach the fourth round at the French Open. He dropped serve only once and won 81 percent of his first-serve points during the match.
This is Cobolli's best result at Roland Garros and continues his steady progress in Paris. He has improved by one round in each appearance, going from qualifying in 2022 to the fourth round this year, and will be hoping to take another step forward.
The Italian has had mixed results this season, with eight of his 12 tournaments ending without multiple wins, including early exits in Rome and Hamburg before arriving in Paris.
However, he has balanced those disappointments with several strong runs, winning the title in Acapulco, reaching the final in Munich, the semifinals in Delray Beach and the quarterfinals in Madrid. Those results helped him climb to a career-high ranking of No. 12.
Cobolli has played only one previous Round of 16 match at a Grand Slam. He defeated Marin Cilic in four sets at Wimbledon last year before going on to reach the quarterfinals.

Svajda Finds His Best Tennis in Paris
Zachary Svajda defeated Francisco Cerundolo in five sets, 6-3, 6-4, 3-6, 4-6, 6-3, to reach the fourth round at the French Open. He led by two sets and a break before being dragged into a decider, but regained control in the fifth to close out the biggest win of his career.
Svajda had already produced a major upset in the opening round by defeating Alexei Popyrin in four sets. It has been an outstanding run in Paris, especially considering he had won only one tour-level clay-court match before this tournament and had never previously recorded multiple wins at a Grand Slam.
The American arrived in Paris with very little momentum. He had won only three main-draw matches across his previous 10 tournaments and had lost six of his last seven matches before the French Open.
This run has completely changed the picture. From struggling for wins just a few weeks ago, Svajda now finds himself in the second week of a Grand Slam for the first time in his career.
