Alexander Zverev has not had much success in recent meetings with Jannik Sinner, which makes this a tough matchup on paper. However, Sinner comes in under significant pressure with major milestones on the line, including winning his maiden Madrid title and becoming the first player ever to win five consecutive Masters titles.

Zverev’s strong record in Madrid and his ability to use the altitude conditions to his advantage keep him competitive here.

Zverev Faces Ultimate Test

  • Jannik Sinner is on a 27-match winning streak in Masters events.
  • He has not lost a tour-level final to anyone other than Carlos Alcaraz since 2023.
  • Alexander Zverev has a 7–5 record in Masters finals.
  • He is 3–14 against Top 10 players in the last 12 months.

Sinner Eyes Fifth Straight Masters

Jannik Sinner moved into the Madrid final with a dominant 6-2, 6-4 win over Arthur Fils. He did not face a single break point and won an outstanding 88% of his first-serve points.

With this run, he becomes just the third player to reach five consecutive Masters finals and is now one win away from making history as the first to win five straight Masters titles.

The 24-year-old has now reached finals at all nine Masters events, becoming the youngest player ever to achieve this milestone, surpassing Novak Djokovic, who did it at age 25.

Sinner is currently on a 22-match winning streak on tour, which extends to 27 matches at Masters level. Remarkably, he has dropped only two sets during this run, both on clay, against Tomas Machac in Monte Carlo and Benjamin Bonzi earlier this week.

Since the start of 2023, he has played 22 tour-level finals and won 17 of them. All five of his losses have come against Carlos Alcaraz, underlining the dominance of their rivalry. On clay, his finals record stands at 2-2.

Zverev Ends Semifinal Losing Streak

Alexander Zverev moved into the Madrid final after defeating Alexander Blockx 6-2, 7-5 in straight sets. He did not face a single break point and converted three of his 14 chances in a controlled performance.

With this victory, he snapped a six-match losing streak in semifinals and reached his first final since Vienna last year. He now aims to lift his first title since Munich.

Zverev has been one of the most consistent players on tour, regularly reaching the latter stages of tournaments. However, his struggles in big matches, especially against top-ranked opponents, remain a key obstacle.

Since the start of 2022, he has played 21 semifinals against top-10 players and lost 17 of them. He has also reached five finals against top-10 opposition in that period and lost all of them, highlighting his difficulties at the highest level.

This will be his 13th Masters final, and he has won seven of his previous 12, including four of his last five. His most recent Masters title came in Paris 2024, where he defeated Ugo Humbert.
