Sinner Extends Incredible Winning Streak

Jannik Sinner continues his dominant run at Masters level, recently lifting the Monte Carlo title by defeating Carlos Alcaraz in the final. That victory also helped him reclaim the world No. 1 ranking.

He is currently on a 17-match winning streak and has won the Sunshine Double along with Monte Carlo. He became only the second player after Novak Djokovic in 2015 to achieve that since the format was introduced.

This turnaround is impressive considering his early setbacks this season, including losses to Djokovic in the Australian Open semifinal and Jakub Menšík in Doha.

Sinner is also on a 22-match winning streak at Masters events, having won the title in his last four tournaments at this level. He now arrives in Madrid for the fourth time, still searching for his first semifinal here.

Bonzi Keeps Madrid Momentum Alive

Benjamin Bonzi continued his Madrid run with a three-set comeback win over Titouan Droguet in the opening round. He won 84% of his first-serve points and saved the only break point he faced.

This is just his second main-draw win on tour this year, with the previous one coming in Indian Wells. Outside the main tour, he has posted solid Challenger results, including four quarterfinal or better finishes.

The 29-year-old has achieved back-to-back main-draw wins at tour level only once before, and that also came here in Madrid in 2025 when he reached the third round.

Verdict

Given the gap in form and confidence, Sinner is expected to keep things one-sided. Backing him to cover the -6.5 games handicap looks like a strong play in this matchup.
