However, this is a matchup Sinner has completely controlled so far, winning all five previous meetings, including exhibition events, and Ruud has rarely found a way to trouble him.

Sinner Moves One Step Closer To Golden Masters

Jannik Sinner defeated Daniil Medvedev 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 in a rain-interrupted battle to reach the Rome Masters final. Despite dropping serve twice in the second set, Sinner dominated the opening and deciding sets to secure the victory.

With this run, Sinner became the first Italian man since Nicola Pietrangeli in 1957-58 to reach back-to-back Rome finals. He now has the opportunity to complete the Career Golden Masters with a victory in Sunday’s final.

Before this week, only Rafael Nadal in 2011 had reached the finals of the first five Masters events of a season. Sinner has now matched that achievement while extending his Masters winning streak to a record-breaking 33 matches.

After a few disappointing results earlier in the season, the Italian has rediscovered extraordinary form in recent months. At the moment, no one on tour has been able to consistently challenge the level he is producing.

Sinner owns a 29-9 record in tour-level finals, while his Masters finals record stands at 9-4. Since 2023, he has not lost a Masters final to anyone other than Carlos Alcaraz.

Ruud Dominates Darderi To Reach Rome Final

Casper Ruud stormed into the Rome Masters final after crushing Luciano Darderi 6-1, 6-1. He dropped serve once and converted six of the nine break points he created during the match.

This will be Ruud’s first final appearance in Rome across seven appearances at the tournament. He previously had three opportunities to reach this stage, but each of those runs ended in the semifinals.

With this latest run, Ruud became the only player to reach at least one Masters final on clay in each of the last three seasons. He previously reached the Monte Carlo final in 2024 and won the Madrid title in 2025.

The Norwegian made a slow start to the season, recording multiple wins in only two of his opening six tournaments. However, he found his rhythm during the clay swing by producing consistent results, including the fourth round in Monte Carlo, the quarterfinals in Madrid, and now the final in Rome.

Ruud owns a strong 12-6 record in tour-level clay finals. At Masters level, his finals record stands at 1-2, with his lone title at this category coming in Madrid earlier this season.
