The USA got off to a rough start on Friday, as they were beaten 3-1 by host nation Switzerland in their tournament opener.
They came into the competition on the back of a gold medal-winning performance at the Winter Olympics earlier his year.
The United States eased through the group stage, beating Latvia 5-1, Denmark 6-3 and Germany 5-1, before booking their place in the gold medal game by beating Sweden 2-1 in overtime and Slovakia 6-2 in regulation.
The Americans then clinched the gold in dramatic fashion, beating rivals Canada 2-1 in overtime in the final.
