Juan Manuel Cerundolo Continues His Hard-Court Revival
Juan Manuel Cerundolo defeated Dhakshineswar Suresh in tight straight sets to reach the third round in Winston-Salem, 7-6, 6-3. He saved two set points and won the crucial points in the first-set tiebreak, which proved decisive in securing the straight-sets victory.
He is now one win away from reaching his second quarterfinal in Winston-Salem. Three years ago, he reached the quarterfinals here after surviving two three-set matches, which remains his only tour-level quarterfinal on hard courts.
The 21-year-old has delivered some impressive results on tour this year, including reaching the fourth round at the French Open, the semifinal in Gstaad and the third round in Cincinnati. These results helped him achieve a career-high ranking of No. 42 a few months ago.

Baez Seeks to Rediscover His Early-Season Form
Sebastian Baez kicked off his campaign with a straight-sets win over Hugo Grenier, 7-5, 7-6. He trailed by a break twice in the first set before fighting back to win the match in straight sets.
He is now looking to reach his second quarterfinal in Winston-Salem. Three years ago, he lifted the title here after defeating Jiri Lehecka in the final, which remains his only hard-court title of his career.
