Kamil Majchrzak has been playing some of the best tennis of his career on grass over the last couple of weeks. He reached the semifinals of the Birmingham Challenger and has now gone one step further by reaching the final in 's-Hertogenbosch, defeating top seed Felix Auger-Aliassime and world No. 8 Daniil Medvedev along the way.

Those results should leave him brimming with confidence heading into this matchup.

First-Time Finalist Faces Ultimate Test

  • Kamil Majchrzak owns a 3–4 career record against Top 10 players.
  • This is the first tour-level final of his career.
  • Alex de Minaur holds a 2–1 record in tour-level grass-court finals.

Polish Player Produces Another Big Upset

Kamil Majchrzak moved into the final after defeating Daniil Medvedev 7-6, 6-1. He saved both break points he faced and converted three of his six break opportunities in an outstanding performance.

This will be the first ATP final of Majchrzak's career. He previously came close on two occasions, reaching the semifinals in Pune in 2022 and Marrakech earlier this year, but fell short both times.

The 30-year-old had won just one of his first 14 matches against Top 20 opponents before arriving in 's-Hertogenbosch. This week, however, he has added two Top 10 victories to his resume, including wins over Felix Auger-Aliassime and Medvedev, highlighting the level he has produced throughout the tournament.

Before this week, Majchrzak had recorded multiple main-draw wins at an ATP grass-court event only once, during his run to the fourth round at Wimbledon last year. He has now won 10 of his last 12 matches on grass, underlining his growing comfort on the surface.

De Minaur Overcomes Slow Start to Advance

Alex de Minaur secured his place in the final after defeating Adrian Mannarino 6-4, 6-0. He found himself trailing 0-3 in the opening set but responded by winning 12 of the next 13 games to complete a dominant turnaround.

Two years ago, De Minaur lifted the title in 's-Hertogenbosch by winning all four of his matches in straight sets, including the final against Sebastian Korda. He is now one victory away from repeating that success and claiming a second title at the event.

The Australian made an excellent start to the season with a title in Rotterdam and a quarterfinal run at the Australian Open. However, his results dipped between Acapulco and Rome, where he managed only four wins across seven tournaments.

In recent weeks, though, there have been signs of improvement, highlighted by a semifinal appearance in Hamburg and a third-round run at Roland Garros.

De Minaur owns an 11-11 record in ATP finals. On grass, he holds a 2-1 record, having won titles in Eastbourne in 2021 and 's-Hertogenbosch in 2024. His only defeat in a grass-court final came against Carlos Alcaraz at Queen's Club in 2023.

Verdict

Against a still somewhat shaky Alex de Minaur, Majchrzak has every chance of making this a competitive contest. Backing Majchrzak to win a set, Majchrzak to win over 9.5 games, and a small punt on Majchrzak to cause an upset all fit the current form of both players.
