Juan Manuel Cerundolo arrives on the back of a five-match winning streak, highlighted by a title-winning run at the Bordeaux Challenger last week. Djere Continues Strong Comeback

Laslo Djere has struggled with fitness problems in recent years, which have slowed his progress significantly. He also endured a difficult start to 2026, failing to win a main-draw match in his first three events before spending more than two months sidelined.

Djere returned to action last month and has gradually improved with each tournament. He reached the second round in Rome, the quarterfinals in Mauthausen and lifted the title in Oeiras a few weeks ago.

With momentum building again, the Serbian now looks to carry that form into tour-level events. This is his second appearance in Geneva after reaching the quarterfinals on debut five years ago.

Cerundolo Building Challenger Success

Juan Manuel Cerundolo also arrives with strong momentum after winning the Challenger title in Bordeaux a few weeks ago.

The result was much needed after an inconsistent stretch following the South American clay swing, where he reached the quarterfinals in Rio de Janeiro and the semifinals at the Rosario Challenger.

Despite some uneven results, Cerundolo has continued to improve his ranking with notable wins in Indian Wells and Madrid. He now looks to carry his recent momentum into this week.

Verdict

Cerundolo deserves slight favoritism here, but Laslo Djere is also a seasoned clay-court player with plenty of experience at this level and arrives with strong seven-match winning run of his own. Backing Cerundolo to win still makes sense, though the form of both players suggests a long battle with over 21.5 games and over 2.5 sets both looking very possible.
