Machac Overcomes Opening Round Test
Tomas Machac cleared his opening-round test against Zizou Bergs in straight sets at the French Open, winning 6-4, 6-4, 6-3. He dropped serve twice but broke his opponent five times during the match.
The Czech started the season strongly in Australia by winning the Adelaide title and reaching the third round at the Australian Open. However, persistent knee problems disrupted his momentum again after he retired in Montpellier.
