Tulsa at Ohio State Picks & Betting Tips

Ohio State can bounce back from last weekend’s defeat to Oregon.

Unlike last weekend, the Buckeyes should turn yards in into plenty of points against 0-2 Tulsa.

The defense is a cause for concern, but Tulsa struggled on third down last weekend.

If the Ohio State ‘D’ can force similar situations here, we should see the home side cover for the first time in 2021.

  • Ohio State are 1-1 so far this season
  • Ohio State racked up 612 yards in the loss to Oregon
  • Ohio State rank #8 nationally in average yards per game (553.5)
  • Ohio State have won 19 of their last 20 home games
  • Ohio State are 4-0-0 ATS against their last 4 AAC opponents
  • Ohio State are 5-1-0 ATS in their last 6 games against teams with losing records
  • Tulsa are 1-3-0 ATS against ranked opponents since start of 2011
  • Tulsa were 4 for 13 on third downs last weekend (8 punts)

Head To Head

  • Ohio State lead the all-time series 1-0
  • Ohio State won 48-3 when these two teams last met in 2016

Tulsa Form

Tulsa head to Ohio Stadium having lost their first two games of the 2021 College Football season.

The Golden Hurricanes surrendered a fourth-quarter lead to lose 19-17 to UC Davis in their season-opener.

That was followed up by a 28-23 defeat to Oklahoma State despite a balanced display on offense.

QB Davis Brin is 34/55 for 425 yards and two interceptions. He is yet to throw a touchdown pass.

RB Deneric Prince leads the team in rushing but the bulk of his 213 yards so far came against UC Davis. Last week he was held to just 34 yards.

Ohio State Form

Ohio State are in danger of giving themselves a mountain to climb in their playoff pursuit.

The Buckeyes opened up with a 45-31 victory in Minnesota but left the Twin Cities with concerns about the defense.

Those concerns grew last weekend as head coach Ryan Day suffered his first regular season defeat.

Ohio gave up 505 yards (268 rushing, 236 passing) in a surprise 35-28 home defeat to Oregon.

They did gain 612 total yards of offense, but a lack of composure meant they did not make the most of that productivity.

QB CJ Stroud is 48/76 for 778 yards, seven touchdowns and two interceptions. He has been guilty of overthrows and missing receivers.

Despite some inconsistency from Stroud, Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson have combined for 440 receiving yards and four touchdowns.

RB Miyan Williams has 202 rushing yards and a TD through two games, while TreVeyon Henderson has 151 all purpose yards and 2 TDs.

Defensively they have struggled badly against the run, allowing 472 yards and six touchdowns across two games.

Verdict

Ohio State will be fired up after suffering a rare regular season defeat last weekend.

Tulsa have the misfortune of being next up for the Buckeyes and we should see a blowout here.
