Buffalo ripped the AFC East crown away from New England last season. Could the Bills be ushering in an era of dominance in the division?

AFC East Predictions & Tips: Buffalo Bills

Buffalo are by far the stand-out team in the AFC East having made the playoffs in three of the last four seasons.

The Bills made it all the way to the Championship Game this season and are fancied for a similar run this time around too.

Last season record after record fell as Josh Allen shone at quarterback, aided massively by free agent signing Stefon Diggs.

Allen has plenty of talented targets beyond Diggs too, and he has plenty of time to find them behind a tough offensive line.

Defensively the Bills could be better than they were in 2020.

Star Lotulei returns after being a COVID opt-out last season, and Matt Milano will be aiming to stay as healthy as possible this time around.

From front to back this defense is a quality unit, with the secondary being the star of the show as one of the best groups in the league.

Buffalo are rightly favourites to win the AFC East and I don’t see anyone stopping them.

AFC East Predictions & Tips: Miami Dolphins

Miami came up short in their quest to end their playoff drought last season but there were positives.

They went from a five-win season in 2019 to a 10-win campaign in 2021.

The Dolphins did this amid the COVID chaos and they did it with a rookie QB and an inexperience offensive line.

Much of that success was down to the defense though, as Miami kept the training wheels on Tua Tagovailoa.

Xavier Howard played a starring role in a defense that led the league in takeaways and he could be part of an even better unit this time around.

That means the pressure is firmly on Tagvailoa and the offense to produce more in 2021. If they do they could push the Bills.

AFC East Predictions & Tips:  New England Patriots

New England moved on from Tom Brady last season and the result was a losing season.

Brady’s exit was not the only factor though – a bizarre offseason schedule, COVID opt-outs and injuries severely weakened the Patriots.

They have made a serious splash in free agency and there is much more talent on the offensive side of the football than there was in 2020.

There is also the return of several players who opted out of playing last season.

So after a proper training camp we should see more from Cam Newton in 2021 and if the Patriots can get rolling they could start racking up the wins.

AFC East Predictions & Tips: New York Jets

New York have made changes at head coach and quarterback but the results are unlikely to be much different.

Rookie QB Zach Wilson will need more time and more talent around him to make an impression.

And defensively new coach Robert Saleh is going to need more time and talent if he is to replicate what he did with San Francisco’s defense.

Wins are likely to be few and far between for the Jets this season.

Buffalo are clearly the elite team in the AFC East and have to be fancied for the crown once again.

New England are an interesting dark horse though.

They made a splash in free agency and have several COVID opt-outs back, making the 2021 roster much stronger than the 2020 group.
