The defending champion Argonauts raced out of the blocks by winning their first six games of the campaign.
That run was halted by a surprise 20-7 defeat at Calgary, but they rebounded in style to win their next six games.
Toronto’s second streak of the season was ended by a 31-21 defeat at Winnipeg in a rematch from last season’s Grey Cup.
However, the Argonauts again bounced back quickly from a loss, beating Edmonton 35-12 and Ottawa 40-27 at home.
Saskatchewan Roughriders Form
Saskatchewan go into their final regular season game with a 6-11 record but still in pole position for the final playoff spot in the West.
The Roughriders got off to a strong start to the season as they won three of their first four games.
They then rebounded from a three-game losing skid by winning three of their next four – a run that included a 34-29 upset of BC and a 32-30 overtime upset of Winnipeg at home.
The Blue Bombers got their revenge by blowing out Saskatchewan, 51-6, a week later, and the Roughriders have not recovered since.
They have suffered six consecutive defeats, with last week’s 27-19 defeat in Calgary giving the Stampeders the chance to catch them.
Verdict
Saskatchewan need this more than Toronto, but that is unlikely to make much difference.
The Argonauts are the cream of the crop in the CFL right now, and are backed to be too strong for the struggling Roughriders.
