Head coach Michael Malone called his team ‘not very good’ recently and star man Nikola Jokic went even further.
According to Malone, Jokic told team-mates “we’re going to get our ass kicked on Wednesday” after a poor scrimmage.
So the last thing Denver need right now is a trip to face the team that swept them in last season’s playoffs.
The Nuggets will rely heavily on Jokic and will look for Michael Porter Jr to take steps forward.
But one man they are without is Jamal Murray, who will not return until the backend of the season and could miss the entire campaign as a whole.
Phoenix Suns Form
Phoenix will look to go one better in 2021/22 after making it to the NBA Finals last season.
They beat both Los Angeles teams and swept Denver on their way to an NBA Finals appearance back in July.
They took a 2-0 series lead over thanks to a couple of home wins over Milwaukee, but they then lost four straight to lose the series 4-2.
Phoenix went 3-1 in preseason and while their star names did get some minutes under their belt, they did not feature too heavily.
Chris Paul averaged 22.5 minutes per game and averaged 11.5 points and 8.0 assists.
Devin Booker averaged 17.9 minutes per game in preseason and averaged 17.0 points per outing while shooting 60% from field goal range.
