Detroit head to Indianapolis riding an eight-game win streak that has made them favorites to win the Super Bowl for the first time in franchise history.
The Lions opened the season with a 26-20 overtime win over the Los Angeles Rams, only to suffer a 20-16 defeat to Tampa Bay a week later.
They have not lost since though, sparking this red-hot run of form with a 20-13 victory in Arizona, which was followed by a 42-29 success against Seattle at home.
Detroit then went out on the road to blowout Dallas 47-9 and beat Minnesota 31-29, before a brief return home saw them crush Tennessee 52-14.
The Lions headed back out on the road after that to down Green Bay 24-14 and Houston 26-23, and then took their record to 9-1 with a 52-6 home demolition of Jacksonville last time out.
Indianapolis Colts Form
Indianapolis go into this matchup looking to build on last weekend’s win over the New York Jets, which improved their record to 5-6.
The Colts kicked off the season with back-to-back defeats, but steadied the ship with a 21-16 win over Chicago and a 27-24 victory against Pittsburgh.
They then responded to a 37-34 defeat in Jacksonville with a 20-17 win in Tennessee and a 16-10 victory at home to Miami, only to lose the next three to fall below .500.
Indianapolis were beaten 23-20 in Houston and 21-13 at Minnesota, before returning home for a 30-20 defeat to Buffalo.
The Colts avoided a fourth straight defeat though, as they edged past the New York Jets last weekend, 28-27.
Verdict
Indianapolis got a much-needed win last weekend, but we do not expect them to back it up.
Detroit are a legitimate Super Bowl contender who are covering consistently, so we like them as road favorites in this one.
