Kansas City enter this rematch from last season’s Super Bowl boasting a perfect 5-0 record that has them top of the AFC West.
The Chiefs began their quest for an historic three-peat with a 27-20 win over conference rivals Baltimore.
They backed that up a week later with a narrow 26-25 victory over Cincinnati, before heading out on the road to down Atlanta 22-17.
Kansas City then moved on to Los Angeles for a big division clash with the Chargers, which they won 17-10.
The Chiefs then returned home to face New Orleans in their final game before the bye week, and they maintained their perfect record with a 26-13 victory.
San Francisco 49ers Form
San Francisco go into this Super Bowl in desperate need of some momentum, having gone 3-3 through their first six games.
The 49ers kicked off the season with a 32-19 win over the New York Jets, only to then head out on the road to lose 23-17 at Minnesota.
They then dropped a big division clash with the Los Angeles Rams on the road, 27-24, before returning home to take down New England 30-13.
San Francisco again failed to follow up a win however, falling to a surprise 24-23 defeat when they hosted NFC West rivals Arizona.
The 49ers did rebound quickly though, as they flew up the West Coast and registered an important 36-24 victory over division foes Seattle.
Verdict
Kansas City rarely find themselves in the underdog role, but when they do Patrick Mahomes has tended to lead them to victory.
That is exactly what happened in last season’s Super Bowl against San Francisco, so give me the Chiefs straight up in this one.
