The Russian has won six of his nine grass-court matches this season, including three victories in the Wimbledon qualifying event, giving him plenty of confidence heading into this contest.
With his aggressive game clicking and his confidence growing, Safiullin looks well equipped to trouble an opponent who has struggled to produce consistent tennis in recent months.

Safiullin Builds Momentum Through Qualifying
Roman Safiullin qualified for the Wimbledon main draw after coming through a series of tough qualifying matches, including a five-set victory over Jerome Kym. This is only his third ATP Tour main-draw appearance of the season after first-round exits at Roland Garros and Stuttgart.
The Russian returned to competition earlier this year after a six-month injury layoff. Since then, he has mainly competed on the Challenger Tour to regain his form and match fitness.
That approach has worked well, as he won the Challenger titles in Oeiras and Mauthausen and reached the semifinals in Alicante before returning to ATP Tour events in recent weeks.
This will be Safiullin's fourth main-draw appearance at Wimbledon. He has cleared the opening round in two of his previous three visits, notably reaching the quarterfinals in 2023.
