Mensik Survives Wimbledon Scare
Jakub Mensik survived a five-set battle to move into the second round at Wimbledon, defeating his opponent 5-7, 6-3, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6. He trailed by a break in the deciding set before producing a superb comeback to seal the victory.
The Czech will be relieved with the result after suffering a disappointing first-round defeat to Adrian Mannarino from a set up in the Queen's Club warm-up event a few weeks ago.
Mensik lost his top-20 ranking earlier this season after failing to defend his Miami title, but he quickly regained those points by reaching the semifinals at Roland Garros and the fourth round in Madrid, helping him return to the top 20.
After losing in the first round on his Wimbledon debut in 2024, Mensik reached the third round last year and will now be looking to match or better that result this week.

Dimitrov Looks to Continue Resurgence
Grigor Dimitrov defeated Dane Sweeny in straight sets, 7-6, 6-3, 7-5, to move into the second round at Wimbledon. He fired 23 aces and won 85 percent of his first-serve points in an impressive serving display.
The Bulgarian arrived on the grass swing carrying a seven-match losing streak and had won only two matches across his previous 11 tournaments due to recurring injury problems.
However, he has regained confidence in recent weeks by reaching back-to-back quarterfinals at the Dublin Challenger and Mallorca, and has now extended that momentum at Wimbledon.
