Tommy Paul Takes Down Zverev in Cincinnati
Tommy Paul defeated World No. 3 Alexander Zverev in a comeback three-set win to reach the quarterfinals in Cincinnati, 4-6, 7-6, 6-4. He faced a match point in the second-set tiebreak and was 2-4 down in the decider before winning four consecutive games to seal the victory.
With this win, he became the first American to defeat the top seed in Cincinnati since John Isner defeated Novak Djokovic in 2013. It is also his fifth career win over a top seed at ATP events.
Paul has played six quarterfinals this year and won five of them. His only loss came in his only Masters quarterfinal this season in Miami, where he lost to Arthur Fils in three sets.
He has a 4-3 record in Masters quarterfinals in his career, including winning four of his last five. Three of those victories came against Top 10 players, and he will be looking to extend that record against another Top 10 opponent this week.

Flavio Cobolli's Breakthrough Gets Another Test
Flavio Cobolli secured his quarterfinal spot after defeating Rafael Jodar in three sets, 4-6, 7-6, 6-3. He fired nine aces and converted three of the six break points he created during the match.
This is his first quarterfinal at a hard-court Masters event after losing in the Round of 16 in his previous attempts in Cincinnati in 2024 and Toronto in 2025.
The 24-year-old has shown a clear pattern this year of either facing early exits or producing deep runs. He has played eight quarterfinals this year and won four of them, including his best result by reaching the final at Roland Garros.
His only previous Masters quarterfinal came in Madrid earlier this year, where he lost to Alexander Zverev in straight sets. He will now be looking for a better result against another Top player.
