Temple at Cincinnati Picks & Betting Tips

Cincinnati can continue their red-hot form with a dominant home win.

The Bearcats are fresh off the biggest win in program history that took their perfect record to 4-0.

That should become 5-0 but the Bearcats rarely find themselves in the role of huge favorites and their track record is not great when they are.

Cincinnati should win and should win comfortably, but they could fail to cover.

  • Cincinnati are 5-0 this season
  • Cincinnati’s win over Notre Dame was their first ever AP Top-10 road win
  • Cincinnati are 0-1-0 ATS as a 29+ point favorite this season
  • Cincinnati are 2-6-0 ATS in their last 8 games when favorited by 28+ points
  • Cincinnati are 0-5-0 ATS in their last 5 games against Temple

Head To Head

  • Temple lead the all-time series 13-8-1
  • Cincinnati won 15-13 when the two teams last met in 2019

Temple Form

Temple head to Cincinnati on a two-game win streak. They have lost three of their first five games though.

The Owls opened with a 61-14 blowout defeat at Rutgers but bounced back to beat Akron, 45-24, a week later.

A 28-3 defeat to Boston College followed, but since then Temple have recorded back-to-back wins.

They eased past Wagner 41-7 before overcoming a slow start to hold off Memphis, 34-31.

D’Wan Mathis has got the last 3 starts at QB and is 65/105 for 762 yards, five touchdowns and a pick.

Jose Barbon leads the team in receiving with 280 yards and a score, while Edward Saydee is the top rusher with 165 yards and a score.

Cincinnati Form

Cincinnati are knocking on the door to the top four in the rankings thanks to a 4-0 start.

The Bearcats kicked off their season with convincing wins over Miami Ohio (49-14) and Murray State (42-7).

They followed that up with a 38-24 win at Indiana before heaving the next weekend off.

Cincinnati came back with a bang last weekend, beating Notre Dame 24-13 for their first ever road win over a top 10 team.

QB Desmond Ridder has caught the eye early, throwing for 1,045 yards, nine touchdowns and two picks. He also has 98 rushing yards and three TDs on the ground.

Jerome Ford leads the way on the ground with 367 yards and six touchdowns through four games.

Cincinnati have six players over 100 yards receiving. Alex Pierce leads the way with 294 yards and a score. Leonard Taylor and Taylor Scott have two TDs apiece.

The defense has been outstanding too and ranks in the top 10 for points allowed (58) and average points per game allowed (14.5).

The Bearcats ‘D’ also ranks in the top 10 in the nation for takeaways. They have 12 so far.

Verdict

Cincinnati should be far too strong for Temple, but their track record with big spreads is ugly.

This is the best Bearcats team in years, but a 29-point spread is a little too much for my liking.
