They wrapped up the regular season by winning four consecutive games, including a 75-67 win at Marquette.
UConn then extended the streak to seven games as they beat Xavier 87-60, St John’s (NY) 95-90 and Marquette 73-57 to clinch the Big East tournament title.
The Huskies made light work of their opening March Madness game too, crushing Stetson in a 91-52 victory.
Northwestern Form
Northwestern enter this March Madness matchup having tasted defeat in three of their last five games.
The Wildcats dropped a couple of games late in the regular season, losing 87-80 at home to Iowa and 53-49 on the road at Michigan State.
They wrapped up the regular season with a win, beating Minnesota 90-66 at home, but they failed to back that up at the Big Ten tournament.
Northwestern went one-and-done in the conference tournament, losing 70-61 to Wisconsin in their opening game.
The Wildcats did, however, manage to avoid a similar swift exit at the national tournament, beating Florida Atlantic 77-65 in overtime in the first round.

Simply put, UConn are levels above their second round opponents at March Madness.
