The Nittany Lions finished with a 7-5 regular season record and were beaten 24-10 by #22 Arkansas in the Outback Bowl.

Purdue come into 2022 looking to build on their best campaign since 2003, having finished 2021 with a 9-4 record and a Bowl Game victory.
The Boilermakers got off to a 3-2 start that saw them lose to #12 Notre Dame, but they went on to spring big surprises in their next two meetings with ranked opposition.
They stunned #2 Iowa 24-7 in October – a victory that propelled them into the top 25.
Their stay was short-lived as they immediately dropped out of the rankings following a 30-13 defeat at home to Wisconsin.
Purdue responded though and early November they pulled off another upset as they knocked off #5 Michigan State 40-29.
They were beaten 59-31 by #6 Ohio State a week later, but that proved to be their final defeat of the season.
The Boilermakers won their final two regular season outings and then edged Tennessee in overtime, 48-45, to win the Music City Bowl.
