Premier League Preview: May 9th-May 11th

Another huge weekend of Premier League action lies ahead, with ten fixtures set to shape the title race, European qualification battle and the fight for survival.

Liverpool vs Chelsea

The first fixture of the weekend sees Liverpool entertain a badly out-of-form Chelsea at Anfield.

The Blues have scored just once while losing each of their last six Premier League games, and both of their last two visits to Anfield. With the Reds looking for a response after their 3-2 defeat against Man Utd last weekend, I expect Arne Slot's side to comfortably secure three points on Saturday.

Liverpool have picked up wins in three of their last four EPL fixtures, and in three of their last four at home, and they should get the job done against a Chelsea side that struggled badly in last week's defeat to Nottingham Forest.

Prediction: 2-0
Best Bet – Liverpool win

Fulham vs Bournemouth

Goals look likely in what should be an entertaining encounter between Fulham and Bournemouth.

BTTS has landed in three of the Cherries’ last four games, and in seven of the last nine meetings between these evenly matched sides.

With European places on the line, I expect an open contest with both teams finding the net at Craven Cottage. Adding over 2.5 goals adds some value in a likely entertaining encounter in London.

Prediction: 2-2
Best Bet – BTTS - Yes

West Ham vs Arsenal

The biggest fixture of the weekend takes place in London, with implications at both ends of the table as West Ham host Arsenal.

The Gunners should take huge confidence from their midweek Champions League win against Atletico Madrid, while the Hammers come into this after a frustrating 3-0 defeat at Brentford.

While both teams are capable of scoring, Arsenal's quality should tell, and an away win with goals looks the safest angle.

Prediction: 1-3
Best Bet – Arsenal win & over 1.5 goals

Tottenham vs Leeds

Rounding off the weekend's action, Tottenham face Leeds in what should be an entertaining clash on Monday evening.

Sours boosted their hopes of survival with a well-deserved win at an out-of-sorts Aston Villa last weekend, but Leeds will provide a tougher test at Tottenham Stadium.

Goals look likely, with BTTS and over 2.5 goals landing in four of Leeds' last six games and in eight of the last ten meetings between these sides.

Prediction: 2-2
Best Bet – BTTS and Over 2.5 Goals

Best of the Rest

On Saturday, Brighton should keep their Champions League qualification hopes alive when they take on already-relegated Wolves at the AMEX. A home win with at least two goals scored appeals, with the Seagulls expected to brush aside their struggling visitors.

Also at 3 pm, Manchester United can mark their Champions League qualification with a narrow away win against an out-of-form Sunderland.

Later in the day, Manchester City continue their Premier League title pursuit with a must-win clash against Brentford. It may not be straightforward, but the Citizens should keep the pressure on league leaders Arsenal with another victory at the Etihad.

On Sunday, Nottingham Forest and Newcastle square off at the City Ground after the hosts' midweek Europa League defeat against Aston Villa. BTTS could prove the best bet, with a share of the spoils potentially on the cards.

Burnley welcome Aston Villa to Turf Moor, with the hosts playing for pride against a Villa side buoyed by their midweek European triumph against Forest. Villa should maintain winning form against the already relegated home side.

Roduning up the action, Crystal Palace could struggle to overcome an Everton side that does their best work on the road. A narrow away win looks likely at Selhurst Park with the Eagles potentially fatigued following their midweek Conference League semi-final vicory against Shakhtar.
