Grigor Dimitrov holds a clear advantage over Arthur Fery in terms of experience, pedigree, and overall grass-court ability. However, the Bulgarian's fitness remains a significant concern. Since the start of the 2024 season, he has retired from five Grand Slam matches, including his fourth-round encounter at Wimbledon last year, underlining the physical issues that have repeatedly disrupted his campaigns.

With both players having already spent considerable time on court during the opening week, this may not develop into a prolonged battle. If Dimitrov's fitness becomes an issue or one player gains early control, the match could finish more quickly than expected.

Dimitrov Takes On The Home Favourite

  • Dimitrov holds a 1–4 record in Wimbledon fourth-round matches.
  • He has a 4–4 record against players outside the Top 100.
  • Fery owns a 16–7 record against players outside the Top 100.
  • He is chasing his maiden Grand Slam quarterfinal.

Dimitrov Returns to the Second Week

Grigor Dimitrov moved into the fourth round after defeating Matteo Berrettini in a gruelling five-set encounter, 6-3, 6-4, 3-6, 5-7, 6-3. Earlier in the week, he also overcame Jakub Mensik in four sets.

This is Dimitrov's sixth appearance in the fourth round at Wimbledon and his fourth consecutive. Apart from his semifinal run in 2014, he has lost on his other four appearances at this stage. He will look to end that run with a favorable matchup this week.

Before the grass season, the Bulgarian endured a difficult spell, losing nine consecutive matches and winning only two main-draw matches during the first five months of the season. However, he rediscovered his form on grass by reaching the quarterfinals in the Dublin Challenger and Mallorca.

Dimitrov heads into this clash with an 8-10 career record in Grand Slam fourth-round matches. His most recent appearance at this stage came at Wimbledon last year, where he retired against Jannik Sinner after leading by two sets.

Briton Shows Remarkable Fight

Arthur Fery defeated Zizou Bergs in a thrilling five-set battle, 2-6, 7-5, 2-6, 7-6, 7-6, to reach the fourth round at Wimbledon. He trailed 1-4 in both the fourth and fifth sets before producing remarkable comebacks to complete the victory.

This is the best Grand Slam result of Fery's career. Impressively, he has come back from a set down in all three of his matches this week, also defeating Damir Dzumhur and Otto Virtanen.

The Briton won only three main-draw matches during the opening three months of the season. However, he found his form in recent weeks with semifinal runs at the Zagreb and Birmingham Challengers, followed by his maiden ATP quarterfinal at Queen's Club.

Those results have transformed his season, and this run at Wimbledon guarantees that Fery will make his top-100 debut in next week's rankings.
