  • Sinner is the favorite, but Zverev offers betting value

Alexander Zverev has often looked completely outmatched against Jannik Sinner, losing each of their last nine meetings, with many of those defeats coming in one-sided fashion. However, Sinner has not been at his usual ruthless best in recent weeks, while Zverev's confidence has soared after finally capturing his maiden Grand Slam title at the French Open. Those factors could make this rivalry far more competitive than it has been in recent years.

The Ultimate Battle On Grass

  • Sinner holds a 4–2 record in Grand Slam finals.
  • He has a 14–3 record against Top 10 players at Grand Slams since the start of 2024.
  • Zverev is 0–3 in grass-court finals.
  • He has lost 12 of his last 13 matches against Top 5 players.

Italian Targets Another Major Crown

Jannik Sinner secured his place in the Wimbledon final after defeating Novak Djokovic in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4. He fired 16 aces and did not lose his serve throughout the match.

The Italian will be relieved with the result after his previous two Grand Slam campaigns ended in disappointing five-set defeats. This fortnight also began with a shaky five-set opener against Miomir Kecmanovic, but he has steadily raised his level in every round since.

Sinner has now won 36 of his last 37 tour-level matches, with his only defeat coming against Juan Manuel Cerundolo in the second round of Roland Garros. During that stretch, he captured five consecutive Masters titles, including three on clay.

He heads into this clash with a 4-2 career record in Grand Slam finals, with both defeats coming against Carlos Alcaraz. He has also won both of his previous grass-court finals, at Halle 2024 and Wimbledon last year.

German Reaches Another Major Final

Alexander Zverev knocked out British wildcard Arthur Fery in straight sets, 7-6, 6-2, 6-4, to reach the Wimbledon final. He dropped serve once and broke his opponent four times during the match.

The German dropped only two sets throughout the fortnight, while his quarterfinal victory over Taylor Fritz was just his sixth win against a top-10 opponent in 25 Grand Slam meetings, highlighting his previous struggles against elite players at the majors.

Zverev has enjoyed an outstanding season, winning his maiden Grand Slam title at Roland Garros and reaching at least the semifinals in eight of his other 10 tournaments, underlining his consistency. He heads into this clash with a 1-3 career record in Grand Slam finals.

He has also played three grass-court finals in his career and finished runner-up on all three occasions.

Verdict

Sinner remains the favorite but there is value in backing Zverev to make this a much closer contest. Backing Zverev to cover the +2.5 sets handicap, Zverev to cover the +5.5 games handicap, a tiebreak to be played, and a small punt on Zverev to win outright.
