Navone Ends Ruud Dominance
Mariano Navone produced a huge upset by defeating three-time champion Casper Ruud 7-5, 6-2 in the semifinals. He dropped serve three times but converted six of his eight break-point opportunities during the match.
After surviving a difficult opening-round battle against Marco Trungelliti, Navone raised his level significantly and defeated his next three opponents in straight sets, including Cameron Norrie and Jaume Munar.
The Argentine was close to falling outside the top 100 rankings around this time last year and also struggled for consistency at lower-level events. However, his form has steadily improved since late 2025, highlighted this season by titles in Bucharest and the Cap Cana Challenger along with a third-round run in Rome.

Tien Continues Stunning Breakthrough
Learner Tien continued his breakthrough week by defeating world No. 10 Alexander Bublik 6-1, 4-6, 7-6 to reach the final in Hamburg. He recovered from a break deficit in the deciding set before closing out the match.
Before the start of 2026, Tien had won only one main-draw match at tour-level clay events. He has now collected six wins on the surface this season, including a third-round run in Rome, highlighting his rapid improvement on clay.
The 20-year-old has made impressive progress on tour over the past year. Strong results such as quarterfinal appearances at the Australian Open and Indian Wells along with a semifinal in Delray Beach helped him break into the top 20 rankings.
Tien has previously played two tour-level finals in his career. He lost to Jannik Sinner in Beijing but defeated Cameron Norrie to win the title in Metz, both during the 2025 season.
