The Lakers won nine of their final 10 regular season games – a sequence that started with three straight road wins as they beat Brooklyn 116-104, Toronto 128-111 and Washington 125-120.
They then returned home to down Cleveland 116-97, only to then drop back-to-back games on their own court, losing 127-117 to Minnesota and 134-120 to Golden State.
Los Angeles ended the regular season on a positive note though, winning 123-120 in Memphis and 124-108 at New Orleans.
The Lakers then made it three wins in a row by beating the Pelicans 110-106 to set up this playoff series with Denver.

Denver finished the regular season with a 57-25 record, securing second place in the Western Conference.
The Nuggets went 6-4 over their final 10 games of the regular season, with those defeats costing them the #1 seeding.
They started the run-in with a 104-97 defeat to Phoenix and a 111-98 loss to Minnesota, but rebounded with a 130-101 victory over Cleveland and a 110-105 success against San Antonio.
Denver then rebounded from a 102-100 loss at the LA Clippers by winning three straight, beating Atlanta 142-110, Utah 111-95 and Minnesota 116-107.
The Nuggets failed to make it four-in-a-row as they lost 121-120 in San Antonio, but they did end the regular season with a win, beating Memphis 126-111.
Verdict
LeBron and AD have shone for the Lakers in recent games, but that is not enough to make us look past Denver.
The Nuggets have repeatedly beaten Los Angeles over the past few seasons, and that level of dominance cannot be ignored.
