Orlando finished the regular season with a 47-35 record that earned them fifth place in the Eastern Conference.
The Magic do not come into the postseason in great form however, having gone 5-5 over their final 10 games, a run that started with a 100-97 defeat to the LA Clippers.
They responded with back-to-back home wins, beating Memphis 118-88 and Portland 104-103, before heading out on the road to beat New Orleans 118-108.
Orlando then bounced back from a 124-115 loss in Charlotte with a 113-98 victory over Chicago, but when they went back out on the road they lost three straight.
The Magic were beaten 118-106 in Houston, 117-99 at Milwaukee and 125-113 in Philadelphia, before returning home to end the regular season with a 113-88 victory over the Bucks.
Cleveland Cavaliers Form
Cleveland finished fourth in the Eastern Conference standings thanks to a 48-34 regular season record.
But just like Orlando, the Cavaliers also dropped a bunch of games over the final couple of weeks, going 4-6 in their last 10 regular season games.
They bounced back from a 118-111 defeat in Charlotte with a 117-114 win at home to Philadelphia, and then bounced back from a 130-101 blowout in Denver with a 129-113 win in Utah.
Cleveland dropped the next three though, losing 122-101 in Phoenix, 116-97 at the Los Angeles Lakers, and 120-118 at the LA Clippers.
The Cavaliers then steadied the ship with a couple of home wins, beating Memphis 110-98 and Indiana 129-120, only to lose their regular season finale, 120-110 to Charlotte.
Verdict
Neither team is in good form, but history points us in the direction of Cleveland in Game 1.
