They beat Denver 104-97 on the road, and then bounced back from a 128-130 loss at Oklahoma City by winning three straight, beating New Orleans 124-111, Cleveland 122-101 and Minnesota 97-87.
Phoenix’s run was halted by a 113-105 defeat to the Pelicans, and that was followed by a 105-92 loss to the LA Clippers.
However, the Suns responded in style as they went back out on the road to beat the Clippers 124-108, Sacramento 108-107 and Minnesota 125-106.
Minnesota Timberwolves Form
Minnesota just missed out on top spot in the Western Conference, finishing one game behind Oklahoma City with a 56-26 record.
The Timberwolves lost four of their final 10 games of the season, costing them top spot in the West.
They started this sequence with a 111-98 win in Denver, and they then responded to a 109-101 loss to Chicago by beating Houston 113-106 and Toronto 133-95 at home.
Minnesota then bounced back from a 97-87 defeat in Phoenix with a 127-117 victory at the Los Angeles Lakers and a 130-121 win at home to Washington.
The Timberwolves dropped two of the last three though, sandwiching a 109-106 win over Atlanta with a 116-107 defeat in Denver and a 125-106 loss to Phoenix.
Verdict
Minnesota may have finished with the better record, but Phoenix make for an appealing underdog.
