The Cardinals are playing their final non-conference game before embarking on their ACC schedule, and they will be keen to build on the work they have done so far.

They kicked things off with a 62-0 shutout victory over Austin Peay, and they have stepped up the quality of opposition since then.

Louisville moved into the top 25 with that demolition of the Governors, and they continued their climb with a 49-14 success against Jacksonville State.

The Cardinals then made it to 3-0 with their biggest win to date, beating Georgia Tech 31-19 last weekend.

Notre Dame have won back-to-back games to improve to 3-1, but that shock defeat at the start of the month still hangs over them like a dark cloud.

The Fighting Irish entered the season as a top-10 team and were considered a contender to win the national championship.

They made a fine start with a 23-13 victory at Texas A&M, but a week later they suffered a stunning 16-14 defeat to Northern Illinois in their home opener.

Notre Dame must now win out and win big to stay in the playoff, hunt and they have quickly bounced back from that loss.

The Fighting Irish went out on the road to blow out Purdue, 66-7, and they followed that up last weekend with a 28-3 home win over Miami OH.
