Sinner Extends Historic Masters Streak
Jannik Sinner opened his Rome Masters campaign with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Sebastian Ofner. The world No. 1 is defending runner-up points at the tournament this week.
With the win, Sinner extended his Masters winning streak to 29 matches, equaling Roger Federer on the all-time list. Only Novak Djokovic has recorded a longer streak with 31 consecutive victories.
The Italian has been nearly unstoppable during this clay swing, especially after Carlos Alcaraz was sidelined through injury. Before this season, Sinner’s only clay title had come in Umag four years ago, but he has now added two Masters trophies on the surface.

Popyrin Continues Rome Revival
Alexei Popyrin advanced to the third round in Rome after defeating Jakub Mensik in three sets. He fired seven aces and saved five of the seven break points he faced during the match.
The Australian has struggled both physically and mentally since last season, leading to a long stretch of early-round exits from the second half of 2025 onward.
