Sacramento booked a spot in the NBA Play-In Tournament by compiling a 46-36 record in the regular season.
The Kings went cold over the final two weeks and lost five of their final seven games, starting with a 120-109 defeat in New York and a 101-100 loss in Boston.
They avoided a third straight defeat with a dominant 107-77 win over Brooklyn, but failed to back that up as they lost 112-105 at Oklahoma City.
Sacramento then returned home to lose 135-123 to New Orleans and 108-107 Phoenix, but did at least finish the regular season with a win, beating Portland 121-82.
The Kings then followed that up in their first Play-In outing, beating Golden State 118-94 to set up this winner-takes-all clash with New Orleans.

New Orleans sealed their place in the NBA Play-In Tournament thanks to a 49-33 regular season record.
The Pelicans ended March with a 104-92 loss to Boston, and that proved to be the start of a four-game losing run that all but ended their chances of earning an automatic playoff place.
They ended that slide with a 113-105 victory in Phoenix, and they followed that up with three more road wins as they downed Portland 110-100, Sacramento 135-123 and Golden State 114-109.
New Orleans’ run was brought to a shuddering halt though, as they lost back-to-back home games against the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Pelicans were beaten 124-108 in their regular season finale, and then lost 110-106 in their first Play-In matchup.
Verdict
New Orleans are weakened by Williamson’s absence, but the head-to-head cannot be ignored.
The Pelicans have had their way with Sacramento this season, even when Zion has been out, so we like the hosts as underdogs in this one.
